Believe it or not I've used Kiwi Black liquid shoe polish. It will last for a good while and is easy to touch up. I did it on my 2002 Volvo S60 and my son's Volvo 850.

Looks like good stuff, most of amazon reviews are favorable.

I've detailed vehicles at the concours level for years and have tried just about everything out there for trim restoration. Black Wow is a decent product but I've found Solution Finish to be the hands down winner. Just wear gloves!

I'll tell you the ones to stay away from... Mother's Back to Black and Meguiar's Black Plastic Restorer. IMHO they are horrible and don't last long.

I use the 303 trim restorer but have to reply it after it rains. I'm going to check out Solution Finish and another one called Forever Black.

Peanut oil restores plastic, including the LR3 plastic trim... ~$3 from any grocery store. An application turns the plastic to black for ~6 months. I have used penut oil for years to restore plastic parts in a 40 year old corvette. Stuff is amazing, even works on the LR3's crusty looking windshield cowl! A treatment is good enough to help match new body panels after an accident.

Also for rubber bits like weatherstripping, suspension air bags, coolant hoses, serpentine belts, and even tires, a 1:9 solution of wintergreen essential oil + xylene (paint thinner) will soften and restore to new condition.

I am guessing it works better because it comes with a wax remover. If you put someone on over wax its not going to penetrate well and most likely won't work well.

Peanut Oil. I never would have thought of that. I will give it a try. I assume that it is not recommended in Africa or India or other areas where elephants may be present........Happy New Year! Phil

I'm going with peanut oil first. Like 4.00 a bottle can't go wrong there.
