Running EBC Greenstuff pads 6000 with EBC slotted and dimpled rotors 2,500 miles on these front brakes and the rotors appear to be warped??
im away on a trip and the chatter gets worse after a few hrs on the road
I will call EBC tomorrow its Labor Day today.
Ill limp home carefully but I’m pretty sure the rotors have to be cut or replaced and probably the green stuff 6000 pads replaced as well and maybe because of the age the calipers maybe replaced looking for some advice on brands rotors calipers and pads for an LR three 2005 I’m pretty sure he rotors slotted dimple rotors can be cut at least once they’ve only have 2500 miles on them!
I serviced the calipers when I did the brake job 2500 miles back only 5 months ago.They seemed to be OK at that time.The truck doesn’t pull to the left or right and the wheels don’t heat up just bad chatter on breaking after they heat up a little bit after driving.Any advise on which way to turn with rotors calipers and pads for this vehicle I think I’m finished with EBC

I’m happy with regular Brembo pads and disks. Last pretty well and not terribly expensive either. The set I’ve got right now has been on for 60k km and the front pads still have some left. Front disks are fine. The rear brakes pads, disks and shoes got replaced the other week because pretty much everything else around them got replaced starting with knuckles, bearings, wheel hub, arms, etc.

If it is that bad, it sounds more like a stuck guide pin or caliper piston. You can still have either and not present with hot brakes unless the piston is REALLY stuck. And for the record, I have serviced mine and ended up with issues anyway because, well, water crossings... lol So before making any assumptions, maybe pole around. The guide pins can be done with out even taking the wheels off I think, just awkward.

As for pads, Brembo usually but ironically I have my first EBC pads on the rears.

Ok any advice on cutting these rotors? It’s been years since I cut drums or rotors? These EBC slotted dimpled rotors are clearly warped with only 2500 miles on them.
shoes are definitely going and my gut feeling is calipers to because they are going on 20 years old. They are clean but old as well as a complete flush and refill on fluid

I have 60k miles on my Akebono Euro pads - I have not yet replaced my rotors, but probably will when I needs pads next
Will keep with solid OEM type - and of course, Akebono pads again

I can tell you what to not purchase…Zimmermann pads. Really dusty.

Okay...so I can say this about the EBC green stuff pads I have installed right now...... they are pretty dang dusty too. My red calipers are black. Sadly I have several sets on hand. Prob back to Brembo after these.

As of today this is what’s happening
I reached out to EBC and explained my situation 10 month old pads and rotors with only 2,500 miles warped out on front rotors.Long story short they sent me new rotors and pads which are not cheap slotted dimpled ,their high end price wise at no charge to me. I’m impressed with quick response time and customer service.
I will replace them when I have time.
I will also replace the front calipers (19 years old)and flush the entire brake system with new fluid
The Green stuff pads were defined as ceramic in the literature I was unaware of this fact
Also I will pay close attention to the breakin procedure after the job is completed
The rear brakes are also Greenstuff pads alittle older and EBC rotors upper end slotted and dimpled
I’m going to pull them and have them resurfaced and service the calipers and replace pads with same to start fresh all the way around.
I’ll post any new findings after I complete the job.

Does anyone know the exact size of the master cylinder cap? Also any recommendations on a brake fluid replacement unit.I purchased a Motive brake bleeding unit. It came with a universal cap adapter.Im not impressed with this unit and may return it. Any advice is welcomed.

I won’t drag this out. The reason for the rotors warping out
I had 4 new tires put on a couple of months ago the tech must have put 300 lbs of torque on the lug nuts all 20 of them! I had to stand and bounce on a 3 ft. 1-1/2 black pipe cheater bar with all 220 lbs of me just to budge them. Honestly I’m surprised they didm’t snap!
This is what warped out the fairly new expensive EBC rotors and slightly older rear EBC rotors.
So the lesson is read the riot act to the tech working on your vehicle state your expectations if possible and watch them closely if you can. Thanks again for all input received
