Default Binding noise and fluid recommendations.

Hello i ve been having a binding noise when i reverse and turn at the same time. Some research around other forum members with similar issue has changed the differential fluids and has cured the problem. So im in the process of getting it done as its due anyway. All fluids were changed around 40k miles ago. So for the fluid recommendations-
Front - Royal Purple Max Gear 75w90
T-case - Royal Purple Synchromesh
Rear (Locking) - performance upgrade Max Gear 75w90 (as per RP site)
does this seem like a correct choice? Or has any one used this fluid on the locking rear?

Thanks
Kushan

As long as Max Gear for the rear is proper for carbon clutches, yes. But I never heard it was. I used Castrol BOT 720.

it says that on the website. But couldnt find anyone who used it. I will double check with them Tomorow. Castrol BOT720 is similar pricing to genuine rover fluid seems like. I was leaning towards the GM fluid as well if RP doesnt work

Have a link? A quick glance by me, nothing. When I looked up fluid by vehicle, nothing. But I had a long day so prob missing something. BOT 720 is not cheap, neither is LR stuff. But since you need just 2 quarts or liters and its a fluid change not done often I figure its worth the extra spending. But of course it often comes down to availability anyway.

its under Rear diff + ETM category. Closer look seems like they have the same fluid listed for both rear and rear+etm.

I dunno, I would never use it. But if they say its good and its not an error go for it.

I'll be curious to hear if changing the fluid helps with the noise. I had the same issue, perhaps more advanced, and wound up changing some hardware!

what kind of noise did you have and what kind of hardware did you have to replace? Mines more of a single bind only happens at reverse. Also a little whine sometimes from front diff. Im hoping fluid change will help that.

RP says its good to go. Looks like im gonna give it a try. This was there reply.

Your front and rear differentials both call for the same 75W-90 viscosity. We do not make a version of Max Gear that does not include a correct and appropriate dose of the limited slip differential friction modifier(LSD-FM) additive. However on a front differential that does not have an LSD in it, and therefore has no LSD clutches to treat, the LSD-FM additive will simply be along for the ride and does not cause any problems.

Yes, Max Gear will work great with the carbon fiber LSD clutches in your rear diff.
