Default Bonnet Catch

Hi All,

The Bonnet release on my 2005 LR3 is not working. I have disassembled the mechanism and tried to pull on the cable, but the catches are not releasing. I have also tried using someone to put weight on the bonnet whilst I pull the cable, still nothing.

Please does anyone know a way of releasing the catches, preferably with out total destruction, but any ideas will be most helpful.

Many thanks,
S.

Search on the UK site (disco3.co.uk) as I recall this issue having been discussed before.

If the handle isn't working you can get it through the grill.

Carefully with a flat head screwdriver push in the 4 clips holding the top of the grill in. Can work the screwdriver in just under the edge of the hood.

From there you can pull off the grill

Then you just have to take some pliers and yank on the cable in front of each latch (2).

Odds are your issue is the connection box on the left fender behind the coolant tank. It is where the 2 cable pieces are joined (magnetically) and pops open causing the issue. Put the cables back in and close it then put a few zip ties around it to keep it shut
