Default Bumper Mount Spare Tire Carrier

I just finished making a bumper mount full size spare tire carrier, I'm checking to see if anyone may be interested in purchasing one? It's not quite as polished as the commercially available ones, but it would be around 1/3 the price! I'll probably make another and throw it up on eBay, but thought the forums may be a better place to get any idea if there's interest.

Looks amazing! I would've been interested a while back but I bought a rear bumper about 2 years ago and it came with one. I think you did a great job!

Thanks, I appreciate it! With only having one option anymore and it's going rate, a complete bumper is kind of a no brainer! I'd like to go that route, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll run the old girl now that she's quickly approaching 300k! This seems to be a great stop-gap.

Looks good, my only gripe would be the latch mechanism which i think there are better options for. Wheel carrier is one of things that would be handy but not essential unless you run larger rubber that wont fit underneath.

Mine definitely doesn't fit underneath... plus I plan to put an air tank in it’s place. The spare has either gone in the back, or on the roof depending on who/what else is going along, so this is a huge improvement for my situation. It also makes it look more off-roady and less soccer-mommy. Not the primary goal by any means, but definitely a bonus.

If you've ever gotten stuck in mud or snow down to the frame, it is near impossible to get the spare tire out to change it. Fortunately the time I was frame deep in snow and popped a tire I had the carrier. Saved at least 30 minutes of digging, not to mention taking all the gear out of the back of the car and getting it wet.

What air tank did you put in? How did you mount it? I mounted an arb single compressor in the engine bay, and was thinking of putting an air tank to help seat beads. Or maybe a water tank for overlanding trips.

I got a 2nd factory air tank from a wreckers and mounted it under the passenger side, my compressor is mounted in the rear left near the AC blower but ideally i would have liked it in the aux battery location but my AGM battery is taking up that space.

That's where I mounted the air compressor. I was also considering strapping a water tank where the spare tire used to be. Would help lower the center of gravity compared to the roof, but it would get warm/hot next to the exhaust and it hasn't left the "could be a cool idea" phase.

You can get a 100 + L aux tank under there but i've never felt the need, much cheaper to carry a 20L jerry can which adds a reasonable range to the diesel.
But something like a 40L fuel and 40L water would be good and wouldn't be hard to fit.
