Default Buying Advice

Hoping for some opinions on two LR3s I’m looking at. Both are California 2006 SE7s in great condition with similar specs. Option 1: 88k miles, three owner, no service history for $9k. Option 2: 135k miles, two owner, full service history for $7k. Do I pony up the extra coin for the low miles or go higher miles for less $$$$. Thanks!

I’d go with the higher miles/less expensive if it has the full service history. I’d rather know what it’s had done to it than have no idea what gremlins may be hiding under the hood.

Could the 88k miles have been a lease for the first two or three years? 88k miles is low. Ask the seller if you can have it inspected. If it passes with no major issues pull $7500 cash out of your pocket and they won’t turn it down. With that low miles, maintenance should have been kept up. Run the VIN through Carfax and see the service history. I would never buy a used car without looking at a Carfax report first. What’s $30 for a $7-8,000 investment.

If they are otherwise "identical" besides miles
I would lean toward the one with proven service history

With either I would be entering expecting that some service would be needed and money would have to be spend. So for me, the lower milage one. But I agree, an inspection at an LR dealer would be required without history.

If you are near So Cal I can do a PPI.

Higher mileage could mean more issues have been addressed, but not a guarantee.
