Default Buying LR3

I was considering buying an LR3 I have a 99 Discovery II now. I noticed there are V6's out there. Whats the consensus worth it or get the V8? Also what quirks should I be aware on the LR3's when I go look at them used. I was considering a 2005 SE loaded with back up sensers and seating for 7. Also what is the lighting package? Thanks

Get the V8, more power, not that much worse MPG

light package, steerable headlights, impresses women, get it. Bi-Xenon headlights are really bright

make sure the air suspension has been updated

i went with the v8 and i love it on longer trips we get 17-21mpg i have the se loaded with the 7 pass
i looked at the v6 and i test drove an 8 and 6 back to back in town not much of a difference but if you want to tow somthing or get out and pass
you may want the 8 just remember if you get the six you may wish you got the 8 but you will not wish you got the six if you get the 8 hey both take prem. fuel
just make for shure all the maintence was performed and get the extended warr. i did a carfax report and contacted the original dealer and had them read off the service that was done so i knew if their were alot of issues with mine. i went thru www.luxurymotors.com and got a good deal they had the best prices on autotrader
you will love your lr3 i have been tempted to get a second one so i can drive one since my wife wont drive anything else she only lets my take it when she wants it filled up with gas. make for shure it has good tires the goodyears if they are still on it are junk and prob close to worn out

Ditto on the V8. V6 will save you a little money but hurts the resale value and saves you nothing at the gas pump. You will love the differences from the Disco to the LR3. The 05's came with a long list of small details that needed dealer attention but should have been fixed under warranty long ago. My 06 was new at purchase and had all those quirks taken care off. Also, if you plan to off road it,... get the heavy duty package. Otherwise, it's inmaterial. And finnaly, ditto on the tires. If it still has GY H/P's, burn them. Give them to your worse enemy. Donate them to the local highschool for their football field, Anything, just get rid of them fast. You can ALMOST put just about anything else in there and it will be a great improvement.

I bought mine fully loaded and a year later I can't think of any particular option that I would consider useless. Topping my option list would be the nav, the heavy duty package and the 3rd row seats.

WAS JUST TELLING MY WIFE ON OUR WAY HOME FROM DINNER WHEN I REPLACE MY 05 WHICH WONT BE FOR A WHILE SINCE I LOVE IT BUT I WILL GET THE HSE WITH THE NAV AND HD PKG BUT I LIKE TO GO OFF THE BEATEN PATH AND IT LOOKS LIKE PUTTING NAV ON AFTERWARD IS A PAIN UNLESS YOU GET A PORTABLE HEAD UNIT. THE FACTORY NAV HAS SOME COOL OPTIONS ON IT. YOU CAN SELECT A MODE TO SEE WHICH WAY YOUR TIRES ARE POINTING WHEN PERFORMING A SLOW ROCK CRAWL AND THAT WOULD BE FUN TO PLAY WITH
