Is there a list of software versions out there? Something I could look my truck up against and see what folks recommend it be at?

My truck is odd, since it has under 50k - I doubt many software updates got done... if any!

Thank you all for the good comments and glad you like our tools

for Ghaniba
Unfortunately this list does not exist
but in the coming months, we will offer an alternative

The IIDTool will detect the version of each ECU and propose an update if available

Sweet! I'll be looking forward to this! I continue to be blown away with the IID Bluetooth I have and it just keeps getting better!

You CAN reset engine and transmission adaptations with the IID tool. Just don't do it right before trying to get an emissions inspection like I did. I didn't even think about it, but was told that that I would need to go drive the car around for 200 miles or so before I could bring it back and get it inspected.

I'd like more info on the GAP tool, how precisely do you get software updates and so on if it's done via bluetooth. What model you have, etc. I am considering scrapping the MSV2 it is way behind on software versions.

The only thing that is done via Bluetooth is the control interface. However, this give you great visibility over the menus and allows for very nice eye candy like all sorts of graphs and recording of live values on tons of parameters. This live recording and graphical view along with the ability to email fault code readouts and live data values to yourself helps immensely in the troubleshooting department. As far as software updates, the IID tool itself is updated over a USB connection with your computer. Gap publishes a small software update tool. The software (firmware) on your IID tool contains the interface software along with all of the ECU software updates that you have access to. Then, when you want to flash an ECU, you simply plug the IID tool into the car and the software is transferred from IID tool to car.

Hope that makes sense.

Completely, I guess Eric should be able to speak to how current the LR version is. I believe BB is on 133, LR is on 141.07 any idea?

He said it will take a few days, but I will let you know when I hear back. I continue to be amazed by the personal support those guys over at Gap Diagnostics give. If I had known how helpful they are and how much effort they put into continually improving a product for an out of production car, it would have made my purchase an absolute no-brainer.
