Can’t find splice in my LR3 to erase fault lights on dashboard.
Hello all, I am new to this forum but after reading previous posts by existing members I find there are a lot of people with good and useful information and I would really appreciate your help with what seems to be a regular topic and source of frustration. So, here goes, i have a 05 reg LR3 which has a few lights on the dash which I would like to remove!!. I am trying to find the troublesome splice where 1red wire joins with 2 smaller red wires and as yet I have had no luck so any advice and help would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
The lights I refer to are, a capital A in a circle, a brake symbol and another couple, and then I get messages saying hdc fault and suspension fault and then the Landy lowers to access height. I don’t just want to remove the lights, I want to sort out the problems. I read that by rewiring that particular splice sorts out many of those problems and so removes the lights.
I think you are putting the cart in front of the horse, here. I'd suggest focusing on the determination that you have a wire issue and not a bad brake light switch or a steering angle sensor that needs to be calibrated. Are your floorboards wet? What does your LR3 actually do, physically, when these faults are active? What are the codes associated with them?
I think I know what splice you are referring to, it is in the sill area of the right front side. You will need to remove the trim pieces from that side for access. While it is a good idea to check these and replace the splices with good weather resistant butt connectors instead of the lame bare ring connectors the factory uses if there is corrosion. I would highly recommend having the faults checked with a GAP tool or a rover shop so you can get the Rover specific fault codes and not just the generic OBD2 ones.
