Default CJB Advice

To make a long story short, my sunroof 2007 LR3 drained water into the wiring and circuits, and I need a new CJB. Is this a part that I can just buy off eBay and simply plug and play?

In the event that it does need to be programmed, how would one go about that? Any info is super helpful!

It needs to be programmed and without proper LR tools/software that you already own it would normally be a dealer job. With that said I do know in some instances there have been used swaps and things worked out. The VIN will not match and it still needed a reconfiguration via GAP tool so the vehicle options matched, not to mention your existing keys wont work so you sorta need a used CJB with matched keys. So even if it worked, you would still need the dealer if you get one with no keys. There is a service in the UK that can apparently program a replacement with you sending in the old one with keys, I am sure the cost is not low but it may be work looking into:

Another option may be what the folks above do, which is to get a good working used one and swap the EPROMs or whatever is used that makes the CJB specific to a vehicle. In layman's terms, swap the programed memory from yours to another. It would contain the VIN, key codes, configuration, etc. Not sure if one chip or more. And soldering skills would likely have to be top notch.

Few things:

1. Is there a guide for swapping programmed memory online somewhere? I assume this option would not work if the CJB was thoroughly fried correct?

2. What if I just pull it out and try to dry it with like a hair dryer outputting hot air, could that work?

3. Someone on another forum was suggesting a software called JLR SSD. Would that have the stuff needed for reprograming?
