2006 LR3 HSE 61000 mi.

I bought the car used about 2 years ago. Whenever I turn on cruise control the car will hold the current speed as long as I am going on a level surface. Any incline in the road and the speed will drop up to 5mph before the cruise control has brought the speed back to where I set it. It's as if the cruise control system is on Valium.

The cruise control systems in GM vehicles I've noticed are always on the ball.

Any ideas as to reasons for the lagging CC?

 

While not as dramatic, I would have to agree... my '07 LR3 is a little sluggish to engage when speed drops climbing a hill.
