Dash lights are dead

Just to clarify the problem
When the switch is rotated one notch, running lights and dash lights work.
When rotated to the second position running lights, dash lights and headlights work
In this setting, pulling the **** will turn on front, then rear fog lights.
During the day rotating the **** to the third (auto) position does nothing. When it gets dark, only the running lights and headlights come on. No dash lights.
I have inspected and reseated the connector.
Dash lights work in manual mode, so I don't think it is a fuse issue.

More questions than answers (maybe)
Yes, Fuse 67 in the CJB behind the glove box is good. In fact I replaced it with a new one from the auto parts store.
I have spent the better part of this last week scouring over the wiring diagram and found a few things that may help me AND confuse me.
The wiring diagram section 417 page 156 shows switch S100 (headlight switch) has 16 connections, but for brevity I will just talk about those that I think will affect the dash lights and auto function.
C0041-8 is power in from CJB
C0041-9 is power out to the dash and instrument lights (all of them it seems)
C0041-4 is labeled "AUTO 52" that is an output to the CJB and I think it activates relay 274 for auto light function for the instrument lights.
C0041 -16 seems to be power from fuse 67 then through the relay contacts from the CJB to the switch. (it seems to replace power normally coming from C0041-8 I think). I have not tested to see if there is power to C0041-16 yet but, I believe that may be my problem.
I have three things that I think may be preventing the auto function from working:
1, The connector may not be making contact to the switch properly even after re-seating. ( I have not been able to test this very reliably)
2. Relay 274 in the CJB is bad. (I have not been able to locate the relay)
3. The switch is bad. (I will swap switches tonight and see what happens)
IF you have had this problem and can confirm or deny the power on connection 16 works the auto feature, I would love to heard from you, I have spent a lot of time searching here and other forums but this seems to be a topic no one has yet addressed.
