Default Daytime Running Lights

Hi all!

I am in the middle of importing a 2006 LR3 into Canada and in order to make this vehicle Cdn. compliant, I have to have the daytime driving lights activated. Has anyone gone through this procedure before? How much does it cost, really? I've been quoted $88 - $500. Why the big difference?I was told that its an aftermarket feature, therefore Land Rover can't do it or they can. I've called several auto mechanics and they are saying that because of the year and model, that's its virtually impossible to activate that only the dealer can do it. Please help!
Thanks y'all!
SB.

Call a dealer, talk with the service manager and ask him if his tech can activate the system by using their Test Book scanner, I believe they can.

Heh Sbest - I did the same thing as you did last year. I went to the LR dealer and it was something like $450. I called a regular mechanic and he did it for $105. Only thing is the green fog-light light stays on on my instrument panel all the time. Doesnt bother me though.

So I've had it for about months now and no problems so I dont think there is any harm in having a regular guy do it.

Hey Thanks Smoove!

I guess I have to continue to search for a qualified mechanic then.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your input. I will try both options and see what price works for me.

It is not so much a qualified mechanic, but a mechanic who has a lap top type scanner like an Auto Logic or similar.

I just brought an 06 into Canada 4 months ago. Daytime runlight conversion was done by the dealer in 14 minutes. They also converted all the settings to metric except for the odometer. They charged me $105. Apparently a one our shop time minimum. Anything more is highway robbery
