Dealer says Sunroof needs to be Reprogramed?
Hello
I had a water leak in my 2006 LR3 sunroof. Luckily Gieco is paying for the damage under my insurance. The sunroof did not open after the water damage. I tried the 20 second hold reset on the switch, and nothing.
The dealer said the sunroof works and does not need to be replaced, it just needs to be "reprogramed". I could not find anything on reprograming the sunroof. Is this true, the sunroof can be reprogramed to work?
Thanks.

It seems more like something else is wrong. If it is covered then why doesn't the dealer simply fix it, instead of making statements. There does not seem to be any room for debate here, if it needs programming, program it, if that does not fix it, replace the ecu, switches, etc. that are bad.
So, yes, there is an ECU, but is that the problem, there is a simple way to find out.

Wow! I'm impressed that insurance is covering something like that. That being said, whether the sunroof needs to be programmed really shouldn't matter, should it? If insurance is paying for the repairs, you pay your deductible and otherwise, you just tell them to fix the darn thing. I can't imagine why it would need reprogramming, but I would let Geico and your dealer work out the details.
