Default E on dash and wont start

Hi guys newbie to the site here, So we picked up a LR3 from auction with no history and no key. We managed to get a key programmer who set up a new key which we was so thankful for as we thought yes we can finally start the Lanny. But that wasnt the case. E on the dash and the errors of Transmission fault gear changing unavailble, HDC Fault, Special programs off, also i think it said DSC turned off?? I have had it on the computer and thrown up lots of codes also i have the JLR SDD which shows most of the modules arnt responding.

We are at logger heads with whats wrong. We have took the TCM off and that was abit corroded so we have cleaned it, still nothing. Maybe i need to clean it more?

We have jumpered the starter relay and she starts fine and drives but in limp mode.

Just so confused on what this could be, fuel pump is fine, fuses are fine. Brake lights work, front lights now work after smacking them to see if they turn on. Front wipers dont work and the reverse lights dont work.

Any help much appreciated.

Need voltage reading of the battery after the vehicle being off for at least 10 minutes. Need a voltage reading with it running.

Assuming voltages are good, then you are looking at a pretty long list of possibilities. It could be a very bad brake switch, cheap and easy, to water getting into the central junction box - which is programmed on a per-vehicle basis and requires dealer coding. Or maybe messed up wiring for trailer harness? Could even be that water dumped on the center console and took out the shifter assembly - easy to swap, used are not very expensive actually.

Check voltages. Clear codes to get a fresh set and post em.

Also maybe check the transmission capacitor. Google for an image... but its is a smaller black item with a few wires. On the LR3 if that item goes, it will cause transmission issues. Its not a common thing. The nice thing is you can disconnect it and things go back to normal. But it would to cause no-start issues. Worth looking at though.

i think you may have it the nail on the head, is this under the car right near the gear shifter? theres a black box type thing dangling under?

I have just unplugged it and still the same, i have checked F30 and that doesnt look like it has blown. But with that dangling you would of thought it may have been.

Well it could have been anyway. You may have multiple issues? Odd it was dangling.... Maybe leave it unplugged for now? I know with the LR3 model that thing MUST be plugged in and working or the trans will not shift at all. I do wonder about the key. I myself have no way to program new keys unless I have at least one good one - although you did say it would run if the starter was manually operated, so I suppose that means security part of the key must be working? I will add a random fact. The LR3 has some quirks, for example if the HVAC control panel is not plugged in, the truck will not start at all.

You really need a proper code reader like the GAP IID Tool, but at about $500 that is expensive. Unless you can find someone locally with one. Because it would be nice to clear the codes and read them again with a proper tool. A basics code reader is often not up to the task on the Rover specific things. What city are you in? Maybe a local forum member can help. I feel this is one of those that needs a hands on approach from someone with experience. I also hope it is just something simple, like something unplugged. The CJB is the brain box of the truck. There is a chance it has water damage OR something is not plugged in on the back side. When I did my drains, I swore I had it all plugged in right but I did not. It is NOT fun working on that module given its location. See video below, but the CJB is always a possibility of causing issues.
