Default Emissions Test - Not Ready

Hi All

Has anyone had any issues with their LR3 being in a state of Emissions Test Not Ready? I'm trying to get my state inspection/emissions sorted, but the garage is saying that the vehicle isn't ready for emissions testing. I've driven the vehicle 200+ miles since I reset errors after replacing the MAF (which was part of the lean code issue). Trims are +1/2 so it all looks good from that perspective, down from double digit spikes.

Garage haven't been overly helpful (aren't we supposed to support small, local business), so I'm wondering if it's their tool. IID has no issues but cannot tell me if the vehicle is emissions ready.

Any ideas?

Pretty sure these need a certain # of drive cycles, not just miles.

Can't remember exactly but a drive cycle involves starting, hitting operating temp, driving X miles and cooling down

What ^ said. There is way more to it than miles.

The full detail is in the attached pdf.

I don’t have a gap, but both my BlueDriver and Autel MS906BT will scan for readiness and show which drive cycles have not cleared..

I suspect one or more of your drive cycles are stuck. I had that happen on a BMW where the evap just wouldn’t clear. I reset and they all cleared up just fine in a short time.

It’s hard to run down if you can’t scan readiness.

Thanks for the info on this. I'd assumed a quick ride would have sorted it but clearly more complex. When I was having CEL issues, as I troubleshooted and cleared codes they'd return anywhere between almost immediately and after a week or so of driving.

I recently re-flashed the ECU as well, to sort the harsh 2nd to 1st shift via an update via Gap Tool. Fixed that issue a treat so wondering if that's meaning I need to run through some of these cycles. Back in on Friday so will let you know how if goes.

Well, she passed no issues. Full bill of health for another year and no issue with the emissions testing.

Next jobs - Heater core flush and replacing heater element in driver seat.
