Experience with the "Land Rover Judgment" from other folks?
I had a supplier visit my work this week. When he saw my LR3 he said, “man, somebody’s making too much money around here.”
As we drove it to lunch, I told him you couldn’t buy a crappy Ford Taurus for what I paid for it!

All of this resonates....the "Range Rover" when it's not one, the "I can't believe you brought this out here" comments....all of that, except the Rip/Succession part. I love the analogy and am familiar with both shows so I get it, I just don't see that where I live. $hit, Beth drove an AMG in Yellowstone!
I sort of deserved the "you brought that out here" questions to some extent, because I was out there when my LR3 was only a year old....but I was like "fukk it." I'm a good driver and its body is still straight and unblemished.
As for that HD variant nearby. Your logic is sound. If you can confirm that it needs no deferred maintenance and it's been well looked after, it may be a good value. My "steal" at $4700 has been good but for sure I had to dump a few thousand bucks into it...shocks, water ingress, fluids...just things like that. That was a few years ago. In today's market the same vehicle is probably $7000 plus those maintenance costs and yeah, we are at $10k. So if it's close by enough, go drive it!
btw....'Cats or Grizzlies?

I paid $4,000 for my 07 and $4,750 for my 06. I have about $14k total in my 07 and will have about $10k total in the 06. Both include a set of 5 tires. If that 05 is as described, it’s a good deal!
Thanks for the encouragement! Yeah that's the one alright. I'd actually been chatting with him a few times over the last few months as he started selling a variety of 3s and 4s but folks kept showing up cash in hand before I could do any of the long distance considerations so I kept missed out on them.
I messaged him again this morning so... fingers crossed here and we'll see what happens

Both of my Rovers cost less than 7k. I didn’t buy my Rovers until I had a little bit of money.
For me, the only people that have made a comment like “DAMN! You got big money now?! “ were people that ended up being haters and couldn’t stand that I wasn’t living in their world anymore (blaming others for my financial problems)
so it did bother me. It DOES bother me when they say those things because sometimes it’s family and old friends that say it and I want to show the truth but they don’t want to listen.
I used to say ‘this Rover is old/I got a really good deal’ but I stopped and I ignore the statements if I hear them now.
