Gas Tank Cap Loose or Missing
1,400 miles on an '07 LR3. The check engine light is on (steady, unblinking). The message displayed is that the Gas Tank Cap is Loose of Missing.
I checked the cap. On, off. Off, on. It's fine.
Nevertheless, the light is still on and the display still insists that there's a gas cap issue.
I know it's under warranty, etc., but is this "one of those things" that has happened or that there's a TSB our there . . . . ?????? Anyone? Anything? Bueller . . . . Bueller . . . .. . [sm=helpout.gif]

Well, it will certainly point at the problem. Either there IS a vapor leak on the system or the sensor has gone bad. The test will show which. And to answer the original post, this is the first time I have heard of this happening.
actually, it resolved and it never happened again. my guess is that the cap WAS, in fact, loose. the same thing happens to my other car when the cap is loose . . . . .

and how did you resolve this? couse i took my lr3 to the dealer and they told me the check engine ligth and the gas cap loose or missing is couse by low octanol gas, that i need to empty the tank and then fill it up with high octane gas... Anyways i did that and they put the computer on the car to deleted the error, and when they turn the car on , the ligth came againg...
WHAT SHOULD I DO???
