Has Anyone has swap or install a SAS (straight axle) kit on LR3
Just wondering if anyone has swap or install a SAS (straight axle) kit on LR3, been thinking on trying to do front and rear, my Truck is an 05 LR3 Se no rear locker, no navigation no air suspension( coil conversion), no extras just a plain LR3 5 seats with 4.0, as I always been a Jeep Guy, 8 months ago decided to get LR3 for more comfort for the family and create a good Overland vehicle but since I truck came coils and my down travel is limited I been thinking on trying to SAS front and rear of LR3, Just wondering if anyone has tried to do it, I know it will be at high cost but Im just wondering
I have never heard of this on an LR3/D3, but as a long time hot-rodder, it might be easier to unbolt the body from the frame and replace the complete frame and running gear. There was a fellow in Spruce Grove (AB) who took the body from a military M37 3/4 ton pickup and bolted it to a 1990's vintage dodge diesel pickup frame and power train, but after seeing a video online I haven't been able to find it again (was finish painted bright yellow). It is likely do-able but the electrical system would also need replacing, the CAN bus processor based systems don't take kindly to these kinds of changes. Good Luck, if you do go ahead it would make a very interesting project thread.
Edit: Just found the link to some photos, it was Stony Plain (AB) not Spruce Grove and is at g741.org ? View topic - Building a retro M37 ... and here is the build link http://www.g741.org/PHPBB/viewtopic....dguy&start=240

How about considering going back to air suspension. I have the same LR3 and it does a great job of overlanding. Nice cushy ride to get to your off-road adventure and hit the off road program of your choice and your wheelin. I wouldn't worry about not having a locker in the rear... but if you have to have one, an OEM or ARB could be installed.

He said it was a 2005.
It may have came with coils, and a 5 seat setup with the rare "premium leather" seats (usually identified by the unusual head rests). Maybe the modification should a move to a car with air suspension.
