headlight unit, disassembly instructions
I am still having issues with the headlight on my 2006 Range Rover Sport. It is fitted with the adaptive headlights that are supposed to swing from left to right depending on where you are steering. The lights are both new. The driver's side light is pointing down, way down. It shines about 5 to 10 feet in front of the truck, high beam is better, but not much. It seems to be locked, stuck, in that position. There are adjusting screws on the top of the light unit, but they don't seem to budge the assembly inside the headlight unit. Does anyone know if the headlight can be disassembled so that I can figure out what is happening with the motor that vertically moves the light. In addition, the driver's light swings in the opposite direction of where I am steering, so the light beams actually cross.......all of you Ghost Buster Fans, this is your cue......Anyway, help! Phil
Any warning lights or messages on the dash? Here is some info from the workshop manual Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS). Probably needs a diagnostic tool to communicate with control units. Any water ingress by the interior fuse box, aka- CJB, central junction box?
The AFS is controlled by an AFS control module which is located at the bottom of the 'A' pillar, behind the CJB. The AFS control
module is connected to and controls an AFS power module located on the base of each headlamp. Signals from the AFS control
module are processed by the AFS power module which powers stepper motors to adjust the vertical and horizontal alignment of
the xenon projector module. The AFS power module also controls and regulates the operation of the static bending lamp (if fitted)
which is requested by the AFS control module but controlled by the CJB.

Below is a multipage thread regarding the adaptive lights - have fun. It is more than you will ever want to know but may be what you need to know.

This is a link regarding the flipper that is the high low beam. There is only one bulb within; the flipper blocks some of the light for low beam and lets it all go out for high beam.
