Hello, 2005 LR3
None of my heated seats work.
They light up when you press the button, fuses are good but no heat front or rear. I have checked the relay fuse as well.
my GAP tool is giving me this code:
B1A73-18 and B1A74-18 (General Electric failure, current below threshold) I’m guessing it’s something other that a damaged heating element since they are all down. Bought this truck 6 months ago and they didn’t work when I bought it. Slowly going through all my issues.

What is the operating voltage of the truck. It has a smart system in place. If operating voltage is too low then things get disabled one by one, such as heated seats and heated windshield. Even the air ride compressor will not start if voltage is too low.

 

Dakota Travler, thanks for the response. Battery is 5 months old. 12V off and 13.5V-14.5V while running...approximatly.

 

Is there a chance it could be thew relay? I'm wondering if I should change it out just to be sure? The relay fuse is fine.

 

If your battery really is at 12.0V when all vehicle systems are actually shut down then you've got a battery and/or charging problem at least.

 

Hi Tracyc, please elaborate. I'll look into it with more details. Just checked again with volt reader. After sitting overnight before start-up it said 12.3V. After start up is was 13.8 to 14.5.

 

Ok,12.3 is quite a bit better. I prefer slightly higher resting voltage but that might be ok.

 

Back to the seat heaters discussion. My drivers seat does not work, the passenger and rear do work. I’m getting the same code. In my case I’d assume I have a broken wire some place specific to the drivers seat. I could possibly replace the seat and hope that fixes the problem. That’s kinda what I’m thinking is wrong with yours. maybe the previous owner replaced seats…. Or someone unplugged the heaters on the seats for some Mickey Mouse fix. Or serious water damage to the wire loom.

 

Are the plugs easy to find under seat? I’ll will check tonight.

I have also pulled the climate control unit from dash and every loos good back there and is plugged in.

 

relatively easy to find. There’s a plug junction on the front of the seat. The seat is super easy to remove too. Takes about five minutes to remove. There’s more plugs under the seat that can be hard to reach if you don’t have tiny hands. I’ve pulled my seat, checked all the plugs. I think I have a bad wire somewhere.
