How to know if Towing/Trailer Mode is working.
So I know when you hook up a trailer, the truck senses it and locks the height and adjusts shift patterns ect ect. My question is, does the trailer light in the dash board stay illuminated or not? What is the indication that you are actually in "tow mode"
I just got a new travel trailer and it has standard incandescent lights, so thats not an issues. When hoooked up through the factory 7 pin, the trailer light does not illuminate. The only time it does is when I have the blinkers or flashers on, which from my understanding lets me know there isnt a fault or bad bulb.
So my question is, how do you know if it is truely in trailer mode.

Yeah, the green trailer icon only illuminates when the blinkers are on, when a Trailer is attached. Pretty sure I have towed some trailers with some bad bulbs, and I think the green icon behaved the same. In other words, I don't know if there is any way for the LR3 instrument cluster to indicate that a bulb is bad. Mine is an 08 HSE. P.S, Make sure your blinker fluid is topped up to the correct level.

If you fit resistors it will but then you also need to add relays to the trailer circuit.
When lights (but clearly not LEDs - good to know) are connected the dash trailer light comes on but I do not believe that simply connecting tow electrics changes anything about the way the vehicle behaves when in high range. However, when in low range and tow electrics are connected the vehicle will be prevented from changing height e.g. when selecting an off-road mode that would normally raise the vehicle to off-road height the vehicle height will not change. But it's the connection of (approved, i.e. maybe some after-market stuff won't work?) tow electrics that triggers this prevention rather than the vehicle sensing any additional weight, etc. I believe this is the only situation in which the way the vehicle behaves changes when towing.
