Buy the box and install it. I will say that everyone I've seen has already had the cooler.

Does this easily retro-fit into an LR3 that did not come with it?

I'm not sure, but it says it comes with the destruction manual. I will say that they aren't ALL that cold. It works pretty well if the stuff you put in it is already cold, but don't expect it to cool a hot can of soda very well. Also, about 4 cans is all it holds, it certainly won't hold a 20oz bottle upright. I think Tom_R has swapped one on his two LR3... maybe. Maybe he can chime in on how easy it would be.

I then lose the utility of being able to hold regular stuff in there like CDs, IIDTool and other stuff. Hmmm....

Jafir, I think it will hold 4 20oz bottles upright if you flip the coin tray upside down (IIRC, this is talked about in the owner's manual or at least on the disco3 site). I'm not sure it cools items very quickly, but it definitely gets quite cold. I like mine a lot, even if I don't use it that much.

Mine has the useless phone cradle so I don't think I can flip the tray. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the idea.

I like the cooler as well, I certainly use it on road trips or off-roading. I've also been known to put candy bars in it in the summer time so they don't melt on the way home.

Thank you everyone.... I am considering putting one in to my LR3. Does anyone know what the Orange port for electronics is used for? It is on the backside of the consul cover

Well, it IS on sale for $395 currently.

It's a neat idea to have that, but for the money, and yet another thing to drain against the battery that these trucks are so troubled by... I think I'll stick to my small sling cooler with ice packs.
