Default IID tool transmission Flash

Has anyone used an IID tool to flash their transmission. I got my 3 over a year ago and I'm not sure if it had the transmission update. I have debated on flashing it with my IID tool but honestly I'm alittle scared because I don't want to screw anything up. I changed my transmission fluid around 10k miles ago (at 90k). I'm having the California stop at times thats the only reason I'm thinking about flashing the ecu. The California stop has happened since the day I got it, it shifts smoothly though! What are your thought?

Short answer: yes. In fact, I've flashed it a couple of times. Once on my own with stock IID files, then again with custom from GAP.

I've flashed mine with the custom software from GAP as well. No issues here.

We should have a discussion about some of this stuff, its like herding cats to get people to discuss IID features in one place! Got one one order so I am following these queries closely.

Yes. While GAP's customer support is excellent, it was very difficult for me to figure out what the heck the thing could actually do before I made the purchase. Somebody needs to make a wiki or something with a tree diagram of the menu.

I ended up flashing the transmission with my iid tool, so far so good. the customer service at GAP is amazing like you guys said. I would definitely recommend a tool for anyone that does do their own maintenance/repairs. If you do end up getting one you HAVE to get the BT version. I had the basic tool for about a week before I traded it in. It is so much easier to use a phone or any other device.

I couldnt agree more. I am thinking about making the purchase but its hard to justify the cost when I really have no idea EXACTLY what it does or why I should get one. Doing a forum search I seem to find only bits and pieces and the GAP website has a great chart but it doesnt explain it in terms for non-mechanics and it doesnt explain the advantage of changing a value from one to another.

Any seasoned LR3 GAP IID Tool users/mechanics want to start an IID thread?

How about this: find ONE owner of an IIDTool that will say it's not worth the money.

Good luck (that's sarcasm)....

It's the first tool you need for LR3 ownership.
