Instrument cluster not working
I’ve got a weird one…my instrument cluster has stopped working (no back lights, needles don’t move, blinker indicators don’t light or make noise, digital read is dead). It will intermittently come on, gas gauge will stay at empty with the warning light on (full tank of gas), digital read out will be black, otherwise all gauges work fine. There are NO check engine lights.
when I opened the driver door ( no key in ignition and engine off) the instrument cluster will beep and the digital readout will have the following message “park brake off lift switch to apply”
the vehicle starts and runs fine. No parking brake issues, all lights work correctly.
I’ve unplugged and re-plugged in the wire harness on the back of the instrument panel.
Not sure what to check next other then battery voltage.
the battery is 6 months old. Interstate AGM H8 battery.

You may need a different cluster. They are a known failure point and can cause issues, or not. I have not looked into them myself, but based on the issues they present for others I tend to think cold solder joints are forming on the connectors or a major component of the cluster. So self-repair may be worth trying if you know how to solder electronics.
Do you have any codes though?

No error codes present. It's really weird.
The saga continues...I checked the battery voltage on my lunch hour and it was staying steady at 14.1-14.2 Volts. When I opened the driver door to turn the ignition on, the IP did NOT chime or display the parking brake message on the digital readout. I left the vehicle running for a bit, and low and behold...the instrument panel operated perfectly. Drove home after work and the problems have disappeared.
I have a suspicion it was a temporary water intrusion issue. I've been running with a plastic trim/cover removed under the drivers side bumper to monitor my trans cooler line leak. I forgot I've had it off for a few weeks and have been frequenting a car wash to keep my underbody clean from road salts. I suspect the high pressure spray may have gotten into a wire harness somewhere. I'll unplug and re-plug all wire harness to make sure I'm getting good contacts. Dielectric grease a bad idea?
I still plan to replace both belts and tensioners pulleys this weekend - just to be sure there isn't any intermittent belt slippage that is reducing the effectiveness of the alternator causing havoc on the sensitive electrical system.

Update. Problem went away on its own. Came back this morning after using a high pressure coin operated self wash. Im pretty confident that the water is getting in the windshield cowel, A pillar, or sunroof drains. I'll investigate all three this weekend.

Update part 2.
we had a heavy rain on Friday…three days later the instrument panel is still turning off and on randomly. If I turn on my heat or air, the IP will work just fine after a few minutes.
checked the cabin filter, bone dry. Checked the carpets, bone dry.
not sure where to check next.

Did you find a way to fix it? I'm having the same problem and I suspect it is about a water leak on rainy days. It happened to me before but after a couple days it started working again. Now it happened again and it was after a heavy rain. Im not sure if i should try to fix it or just wait again a couple days. I don't know if letting it dry is the answer. Any thoughts?
I ended up getting new clips for the exterior A trim panel. In addition I added a cover to the HVAC air intake under the windshield cowel.
So far no water issues and IP has been working just fine.
after a week or two, my interior cabin filter ended up being wet (daily checks). I suspect I had water just sitting in the hvac ducts that eventually made its way out in various locations.
