Default Key Fobs won’t unlock doors

Hey guys, I have 2 working keys that will both start the rover and will lock all the doors however neither will unlock the doors. I feel like I am missing something. Any ideas why? My son ran my battery down jamming on the radio. I jumped it of. No issues other than the key fobs won’t unlock the doors. This related?

thanks for your help

If this was a product of the battery run down, do a hard reset.

By hard reset you mean pull the battery and wait 10 minutes? To be honest I don’t remember if the key fobs ever unlocked the doors...it’s a garage queen and I rarely drive it. I’ve had it for about 2.5 yrs. I have the GapIID tool and I remember programming the second key for a spare.

is there a process for programming the key just for the lock\unlock or does all that happen when you program the key to start the engine?

You can not program the lock/unlock only the logo button. My other thought was that the infamous blue wire connection on the passenger side is bad. But I believe that affects the remote 100%, not just the unlock.

Thank you for the info Dakota. So once the key is programmed to start the vehicle the lock/unlock should work correct? I wonder if my batteries in the fobs are weak? If I just leave them in the ignition will they charge or does it have to be running?

Has to be running. I guess it could be weak batteries, would sorta make sense. Especially if they are original.

edit: Wait I take that back, if they lock then they would unlock. So if the battery was dying, they would not work at all or they would work fine right after being used then stop working later.

I’m at a loss for what to do next.

i have performed a hard reset by removing battery cables for 10+ minutes
new batteries in both key fobs
used my GAPIID tool to reprogram the keys.

both keys start the truck. Only the factory key will lock but not unlock the doors. The backup does nothing. Also I can program the factory key rover button to turn on/off headlights, open back hatch etc...

maybe it’s time to go see the LR dealership

Odd the backup does nothing, even after reprograming. OEM key that did work before?

I’m going to dig into the rocker panel today and see if the blue and white wire are corroded. When I get this figured out I’ll post an update

Dug into the harness on passenger side and found the wire (it’s actually green with white stripes) got all excited when I opened the splice and seen it was all corroded. Got it all connected back up and it didn’t fix it. Again, The LR factory key will lock the doors but won’t unlock. The backup key wont do anything but start the Rover and activate my headlights using the 3rd programmable button.

yeah I don’t even know what to try next.
