Key Not Working

Key Not Working
I have a 2006 Land Rover LR3 v6 with about 11,500 miles on it. I bought it in Arizona, and shipped it to Germany as part of a work relocation.
I woke up today (sunday), and my key fob didn't work, so I tried the second and it also did not work. I saw the alarm light blinking through the window of the car, so I knew it was not the battery from the car. So, I opened the car manually, by removing the driver's side door handle plastic cover and using the key - as instructed in the owner's manual. The alarm started, and I put the key in the ignition expecting it to turn off but it didn't. I turn the key to start the car, and everything except the start actually works - like the engine start is disabled. It seems that my car no longer thinks my keys are the right ones - I used the car last night...
The hazard lights turned on and now won't shut off.
I called Land Rover 24 hour support, but since I bought the car in the US they will not help me anymore than to refer me to a local mechanic (I highly doubt they will know what to do other than tow it to Land Rover).
Since this is Germany - nothing is open today... any suggestions???

RE: Key Not Working
Hi, I think the problem is simple - batteries in your keys just went out. There are batteries inside the keys and the batteries are to be charged when the key is in the lock. The manual (you need to read it at least once) says that you should use both keys and change them at least monthly to keep charged.
Once the batteries are dead then the built-in immobilizer (in the key) does not work and you can't start up the engine. Of cource it's better to contact the dealer and ask them to charge the battery, but I think if you leave the key in the lock turned on for an hour it should work after.
Good luck.
