Default Lazy Entry with Memory Seats/Mirrors

I did actually spend the effort to read the manual first but I am still having problems with how the Lazy Entry and memory seats/mirrors should work. It states in the manual that when you unlock the vehicle the seats and mirrors should move to the stored location based on the key that is used. My seats don'tchange position on entryso I must be doing something wrong.

I used Key 1 and stored memory 1 and then used Key 2 and stored memory 2 and this didn't achieve any change in seat position when entering the vehicle but manually I could select the stored positions using the buttons on the seat.

After reading further I thought it actually said each key can store up to three positions so I took Key1 and stored memory 1 and then moved seat and mirrors to a different position and using Key 2 also stored memory 1. Regardless of the key I used, memory 1has the last saved position for both keys.

I'm confused... any clarification would help..

Default RE: Lazy Entry with Memory Seats/Mirrors

I'm quoting from the Discovery 3 manual.

The book says in page 41:

Lazy entry*

When the lazy entry option is selected... blah blah blah. Then at the bottom it says See SELECTING SETTINGS OPTION* , 77

So, for Lazy entry to work, it first has to be"selected" as a driver's option from the options menu. It is defaulted to OFF. See page 77 as the book directs to change the settings. Once it is "turned on" it works like a charm! My wife is under 5' tall so the settings from her driving position to mine, me being over 6' are quite different as you can imagine.

Default RE: Lazy Entry with Memory Seats/Mirrors

I have the Lazy Entry switched on and still have issues but I think it may be a problem with the second key. I found in the work shop manual the description of how the Lazy Entry functions. It stores the seat & mirror position whenever that specifickey is removed. What I have found is that it seems to store the position the same for each key.
Example:
Step 1 -Move the seat while Key1 is in the ignition.
Step 2 -Removed key 1.
Step 3 -Moved seat to different position
Step 4 -Pressed unlock on Key 1 - seat returns to position in step 1
Step 5 -Moved seat to different position again
Step 6 -Pressed unlock on Key 2 - seat returns to position in step 1 stored with Key 1
I repeated the steps with the second key and got a similar result.
It makes me believe that the second key is actually being recognized the same as the first key??? I had the dealer supply a second key and they activated it but do they need to specifythat it is a second key, is that my problem??
Lazy Entry
Pressing the unlock button on the remote transmitter will initiate a memory recall. This feature is known as 'lazy entry'. If
the seat movement, memory switch or the lock button on the remote transmitter is pressed, then the 'lazy entry' feature
will stop immediately.
The memory settings are stored within Electronic Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM) of the memory
control module each time the ignition switch is cycled from position II to position I. These are the positional values that a
lazy entry request uses when the remote unlock button for that particular key is next pressed.
