Question loud bang then drive normal with out range control

2006 LR3: Seem like it is in 4 wheel drive when you start her. But when you cut the wheel and take off get loud bang and two wheel drive light turn off. Get message range control off. Got any Ideal?

What the fukk are you even talking about????

What is the "two wheel drive light?" The LR3 is ALWAYS in 4 Wheel Drive. It is permanent 4WD. Are you possibly talking about Lo-Range as 4WD and the High Range indication as the "two wheel drive light?"

Perhaps the bang is the compressor or its exhaust valve? It probably says something on the odometer display? Like special programs off?

You really need to read the codes.

I think it might be front Differential, or brakes being applied by traction control when turning. then loud noise. Waiting on book and code reader to fix her. the last person drove it like that. So, I think it is Fixable. Front tires feel like chucking up asphalt only when turning L or R.

Not sure why the Terrain Response ****'s backlight would go out, but if it's a "clunking" sound especially while turning, it could be a lot of things. CV joints/axles or clutch packs in either the center diff (Transfer Case) or (locking) rear diff, which is almost certainly why Dakota was asking if you have the locker.

Which code reader did you order?

The backlights go out if the vehicle disables the feature. Like on a suspension fault the lights next to the up/down lever turn off. Same with the rotary dial if special programs are disabled, etc.

Where is the rear differential locker located because I did not see any locking device on rear differential? or is it on the rear of the transfer because I found what looks like a shift motor to run special programs?
