Ok. Pressing concerns currently are random battery light and suspension fault. Those two things are preventing me from driving this car. (It’s for sure a secondary vehicle). I suspect the smell is either a coolant leak that is not that bad right now because it is cooler or has to do with leaking I see around the oil cooler. Also note to self, don’t start this thing in the basement. Back to the battery, if I changed the belts and I still get the random battery light and the car is starting fine, what can I look at next? Is there anything I can monitor on the gap tool? I feel like it is not the battery based on me always having enough volts to start. Could it be something besides the alternator? What about these errors?
Just watch the voltage reading. And why is it in storage mode. Weird. The battery light could be caused by a bad connector at the alternator if the voltages are always good.
My alternator was not installed correctly by the previous owner. There was no top bolt installed and it was only hanging by the bottom bolts. Not sure if the old alternator was bad but when I removed it the positive terminal, the bolt broke off so I went ahead and replaced it. Charging problem seems to be gone and no more of those wild errors.
