Default LR3 EAS Issues

Hi all,

I just purchased an 05 LR3 with the info that the air compressor was bad.

I purchased the car up north near my parents house, so I was only able to work on it while I was up there for the holidays and am now back home and not with the vehicle.

I replaced the compressor and relay, but then found the reservoir was rusted through.

I tried welding it up but the metal was just too far gone to be saved.

I ordered a new tank and it arrived this week. My dad installed it and said the compressor ran and he doesn't hear any leaks, but the vehicle still won't raise. Before I left it was giving the "Special programs unavailable " error so I assume it is the same status.

I asked him to use the GAP IIDTOOL that I left there and he will see if everything is getting proper pressure and if there are any new errors.

I pulled all the codes before I left and have attached them here. I looked up most of them but am not sure which ones still may be causing my issues, which ones are just normal for a vehicle sitting for a while on a dead battery, and what their route cause would be. Any help in diagnosing the problem would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all,

Check the front and rear valve blocks. Front block is between the passenger fog lamp and passenger wheel well, its right behind the wheel well plastic. Rear one is up on the driver's side rear between the rear wheel and above the spare tire.

If its sat that long/had the suspension aired down for a while, it probably needs a reset and recalibration more than anyting. GAP has the steps to walk you through recalibrating it (all done on the GAP tool). For the reset, I'd either do the hard reset connecting the battery cables with wire, or do the vehicle reset in the GAP tool.

...does the suspension raise? The Special Programs Unavailable and the suspension issue could be due to a failed brake switch.

Ok I had done the hard reset through the app but hadn't done the calibration.

I will ask my dad if he has time to try and calibrate it tonight.

Will it not even try to raise if it's not calibrated?

Do any of my transmission or drivetrain codes look problematic?

No it just makes the chime song and does nothing.

I see that I have a code for brake lamp switch circuit in my list. Is that what you're mentioning?

...not to me.

So, let's confirm: will it raise or not??? If it won't raise like after a reboot when no faults are present then it's not a brake switch.

Did you put in a new brake switch? Simple 5 min job and a cheap part. It's under the steering wheel and only takes 1 panel removed to get to it.

The engine and tranny codes look like they're all tied to a dead brake switch.

Make sure you don't have any brake bulbs out either, those could throw the same error. The genuine bulbs are cheap enough to grab a couple packs with the switch.switch.

And yup if the calibration is off enough it'll throw the yellow suspension light and not raise above normal height.

Default I'd noticed that one...

...but really I mention d brake switch because it is low-hanging fruit. If it won't raise at all there is another issue. Did you replace with an AMK compressor? If so, did you update the software?

No it will not raise. It is on the bump stops.

I will ask my dad to see if it has a dead brake light. I didnt replace anything on the vehicle yet besides the compressor and tank so far.

It won't raise at all. No I made sure to use the replacement Hitachi. The compressor runs and fills the tank no problem.

So as a further update, the compressor and reservoir both operate well, no leaks or issues detected.

The current status is that the car will not respond at all to any requests sent to the air suspension either through the Gap tool, or the toggle switch in the vehicle. The car is sitting on the bump stops.

If there is an issue with the transmission, transfer case, or differentials, would this cause this to happen?

Can the parking brake fault or the brake light switch issue cause this lack of response?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,
