Default LR3 Genuine Dash Replacement

Looking at an LR3 with a cracked dash. What could I expect to pay I cost and labor for a genuine replacement? I don’t like the mat covers. Tks!

$1200-$1400 for the dash and $800-$1200 for the install. Essentially everything from the center console to the steering wheel up to the fire wall needs to come out. It is a time consuming job. Merriam Land Rover sells Land Rover parts online at a discount, but the shipping on the dash will be expensive. Our local dealer almost doubles the MSRP on parts, thank you Land Rover San Diego. Land Rover Carlsbad usually sells the same parts at MSRP. For such an expensive part, you might be able to negotiate a discount. Good Luck, you might consider a coverlay dash cap or a fabric dash cover.

As far as I know the dashboards are not longer produced. So you may have a really hard time locating a new one. So even if a seller shows them in stock, you may get a call saying its not really available. So calling around is your best bet to be certain.

I would consider a Coverlay assuming you aren't doing a concours restoration. Coverlay dash cover

Tks guys. This is the one thing making me question an LR3 vs an LR4 with a dash that doesn’t crack. Although catastrophic engine failure of the 5.0 scares me.

It's one of the things that stressed me in the early days of LR3 ownership. Now I just live with it. There are plenty of other things that will need your focus and attention.

Yeah, I feel the same way. Freaked out a bit when it first started to happen. Now I don't really see it, when I look at it.

Same same. Mine was uncracked when I got it and i thought maybe I'd get lucky but it comes for them all. Not too bad yet, eventually I'll do the coverlay I think.

Yours got cracked in PORTLAND???? Do you park it outside?

I think there are definitely things that a person can do to prevent the cracking, but it likely has to start early and it certainly is impacted by geography. I don't want to jinx myself but I have an '05 that I've owned since new, in WA state, and have always kept a nice coat of protectant on it. I park it in a garage and a few years ago put one of those ugly dash mats on the top of it mostly for times I take it out in the woods (protect from dust) or am detailing it (6 hours in the sun). I think that should help. I also have an '06 I bought a few years ago, no cracks....I immediately did the same for that one. Fingers crossed.
