LR3 / LR4 Door Swap
I have a 2008 Land Rover LR3, which is a marvelous car. The 4.4 liter Jaguar V8 is a gem, and now pushing 200K miles, the truck in my ownership has been trouble free, and is a go-anywhere, adventure wagon. I love it.
It also has a nominal book value.
So, when 20-something college kid gets T-boned by a drunk driver it's almost certain to be totaled, unless you do the work yourself. Damage was only to a tire and the passenger rear door. Tire was an easy replacement. I thought the door would be too. I couldn't source anything locally, so ordered a replacement off of e-bay, that arrived more damaged than the one on the car. Had to unscramble those eggs.
Ordered a second door from an LR4, and it's now on the car and cosmetically we're back to 100%, but it seems like the damned wiring harness is different and the locking actuator doesn't work. It seems like that means I have to swap out all of the door internals which are finicky and hard to reach. Any thoughts? As a complication, the car currently thinks the door is open and so won't allow suspension height changes.
