Default Replacement Diff options

There are a couple of Diff case variations..

Ask at your dealer with your VIN sir.
What is the best option for Diff replacement for the money? I have 2 LR3's one has Centurian Diffs front and back, the back was replaced twice in a month and my front one everyone says wow your front Diff is really noisy so I am not convinced, who else is remanufacturing Front & Rear Diffs? Or do you get your original rebuilt by a good Indy? Don't want to go the $2500+ for a replacement OE unit someone must be building replacement improved units as these fail on a regular basis.

Default Possible source of factory differential parts.

I think if you PM unseenone per post #50 of this thread, he knows quite a bit about the differentials and has a source for parts re the factory units.

more info please, I keep hearing things about Centurian and if it is up and running or not worried as both my Diffs are still under there warranty and the front is abit noisy, not bad but noisy. On my other LR3 I think one of the Diffs will need doing so will probably have to look for someone to rebuild it if there are no good options of buying a remanufatured one off of the shelf.

I just had a Centurion Diff for my LR3 sourced and installed about two months ago. It took a day or two for them to build it once the shop ordered it, but I'm pretty close in DFW so shipping/delivery wasn't that bad. Sorry I don't have any more recent info than that.

Default Diff and transfer case info

We are at 53k on our LR4, do all services and repairs myself, just thinking about these fluids, came across your article... and now wish I’d come across it earlier... coulda, shoulda, woulda, 😳

I also saw a video from FIxItSam and the state of the oil being drained only goes to prove your point.

So now want to get mine done ASAP!

I don't have a failing diff but i've changed my diff oil 3-4 times since owning after 35k miles.

First change @ 120k miles = milky. Very milky.
2nd change @ 130k miles = still milky but not as much.
3rd change @ 140k = clearish but dirty. slightly milky
4th change @ 150k = looking normal.

Both diffs we're the same but I frequently encounter deep mud/water so chalked it up to that but I suspect that's not the case.

Default all normal, probably

I suspect that the previous owner used your 3 as a grocery getter and never changed anything but the engine oil, and even then, not very often.

As such, you are the first to treat your 3 as it should be, driven off road, and cared for.

I think it took four oil changes just to wash out the previous neglect; the good news is it appears all has held up well.

I assume you have changed transfer case oil as well and will be doing the tranny sooner rather than later.

I do my tranny at least every 50,000 miles and mine is a grocery getter.

Also make certain the front and rear differential vent hoses are connected.

Note the link below to my replacement of the front differential vent breather to the newer style. I see a number of the files within have near a thousand or more views - a lot of guys do it as the fix is cheap and it must be the only update that you can do standing up while keeping your hands clean.
