Default LR3 from NY & salt damage?

Would you consider an LR3 that was in East Hampton NY from 07-09? 35K of miles were put on it in that time. It was in Texas after that. Living in Texas I don't know much about salt and vehicles. I always hear, "never buy a car from up north!" I also hear "Never buy a Land Rover." But here I am.
What do you look for? Every car looks kind of rusty to me underneath.

35K miles isn't much. Does it have a maintenance history, how is the condition of the frame? I have a 07 and I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and we use salt like crazy. I have some rust on the frame but nothing serious.

So, would I buy a 35K 07-09 LR3 sure, if it was well maintained.

Inspect the undercarriage for rust. I have a 00 DII that was on Long Island since new. There is a surface rust on the frame but its not too bad. You can also look into a Waxoyl treatment to prevent further rust.

the worst part about road salt is that it will eventually eat away your body panels and those are the hardest to replace on a budget. Exhaust, trailer wiring, easy and fairly cost-effective to replace.

I do believe that the panels on the 3 are alloy of some sort. I'm not exactly sure what is in the mix, but I know that a light duty magnet won't stick to the tailgate. I have an '07 that was purchased in west coast/lower mainland/Vancouver area of BC and then lived it's life far enough north to see salt every winter and the body panels seem to be in fine shape.

Hood and tailgate are made of aluminum...

As for New York salt, Hamptons are not considered to be it the Rust belt region, upstate NY maybe, but not New York city, so I would not worry about some surface rust at all.
