Default LR3 Radio Reception Problems

I have a 2006 Landrover LR3 with a factory stereo (single Disc), the vehicle is stock with no modifications. It seems that the stereo has always had poor reception on FM and AM almost never works well. I have taken it to the local landrover dealer several times with this complaint only to have the same response - "all is ok, it must be a bad area".

I know there is a problem but can't find where it could be. I have removed the stereo to check for a bad antenna connection which is connected properly. Can anyone recommend any think else to look at or where the physical antenna is located on this vehicle and where/how the antenna cable is routed to the antenna?

Thanks

Default should be good re LR3 Radio Reception Problems

I have a 2005 HSE with the upgraded radio. I would say I have good reception, however I am getting voice distortion on the AM side in the mornings on most AM stations, but only when there there talk - the news etc. FMis OK. When there is music and later in the afternoon, no distortion. I thought it was the front middle speaker, but the distortion also comes out of the rear post speakers at the rear hatch. The distortion is as if the radio is slightly off frequency. I also at first I thought it was the station, CBC AM 740 in Edmonton AB Canada, butwhen Iswitched to other AM stations and listened to the news, the same distortion was there. I have not spoken yet to the dealer as the distortion is only in the morning, (when the radiois cold), nowbelow freezing here, so duplication of the problem inthe dealer shop is unlikely.

Re reception, I was picking up AM stations 200 miles away, (Calgary CHQR) so I cannot complain about reception. FM OK as well Also I have received Edmonton AM stations 150 miles out of town where my 92 Buick Roadmaster, (which does have a good Delco radio; yes, Delco makes good radios, and GM good cars, but not all the time), did not receiveall that well.

It is probably a connector problem, maybe where the antenna cable connects to thewindow(s)glass. I think both sides of the rear glass are antennas, and they both have to connect so thefinding the problem is not easy. I recall myRoadmaster did havewhen new, receptionproblems.GM under warranty, installed a new antenna cable from the radio to the rear fender mountedpower antenna. The antenna was OK, but the cable was apparently the problem - other GM cars as well, so getting it replaced was not a big deal asthe concern was already documented.
