Hey everyone, I've googled a lot but can't seem to find anything conclusive. I just recently got my hands on an '05 HSE with Navi and was wondering if I could find a modern head unit replacement. Is this a hopeless endeavor or no? I've found some things like the following:

But I was hoping for something either cheaper (if possible) and of course, in the USA.

 

Good news is that has gone down a bit in price. AliExpress has a few options but do your due diligence. The write ups are confusing as to what it really fits and don't always match with the pictures.

Really dig this one but not sure I'm willing to be the test dummy at that price.

Most 2 Din replacements do not seem to work with the LR amplifier so do your research well

 

This is a bummer. I guess the only other "upgrade" seems to be the LR4 head unit right?

 

The LR4 head unit will not work in an LR3.

 

that is not true imo. I have an pioneer media player in mine and I bought my harness from Spiral audio. Works perfect.

Does the cruise control still work? How about the upper screen with the 4x4 info? Or is yours one with the upper cubby? TIA

 

Cruise will still work as it has nothing to do with the head unit, you will lose the sat nav and 4x4 info which are both pretty useless anyway.
You'll want a harness with a fibre optic bypass loop and either fit another amp or do without, if the head unit has DSP its not needed anyway.

 

I have the cubby up top. No factory nav.
