Default LR3 Rev stutter and Power loss

Hi All,

wondering if someone can help!

I have a 2006 LR3. Been recently having power loss issues such as:

1. Sometimes when starting the car - it starts fine (always) BUT with next to no Rev power. I press the gas and practically nothing happens. The needle hardly moves. After a few restarts the car runs fine.

2. Whilst driving on occasion I can feel the Rev is unstable. Its like its trying to breath but it is struggling. Stopping at a red light can cut it out - but not totally. When it cuts out the rev drops drastically.

So far I have :

1. cleaned Mass air flow sensor - made no difference
2. changed air filter - made no difference
3. took the throttle out and gave it a thorough cleaning - which made a BIG difference and the car ran so smooth. However, problems are back after a day!

What else could it be?

You won't get far with these trucks without either your own reader of being able to have a shop plug and scan. these things are code throwing machines... some which mean nothing (soft codes) but some that are essential to diagnosing a problem correctly.

You may have a bad MAF but before spending money on parts, get it scanned... it may be it needs a software upgrade or ?

OK - seems the problem is only when the car is cold. The car starts fine but with almost no rev power. I have to wait for it to warm up and restart is a few times before it starts with power. Whilst driving it can cut out if the car has not warmed up properly.

As per responses - i will make a booking with land rover to get the computer checks. Hoping it is not a major problem. I will respond back with progress.

Default Codes

I purchased a bluetooth obd device and the screen shot is of the faults it is showing. Could be mas or maybe the throttle needs some wd40 (hoping).

I posted a message last night using my phone. seems it was not posted. maybe being moderated?!

Anyway, i bought a bluetooth obd device yesterday and using Torque app. Readings this morning when the problem existed (car starts with zero rev power):

P0036
P0056
P0222
P2105
P2135

After several restarts and after car warmed up a bit the car started fine and ran as usual; though it did cut out at 1 red light.

Any ideas?

I would start with the throttle position sensor issue. Once that is fixed, clear codes and see what comes back.

Might start with cleaning the connector contacts between the wiring connector and the sensor. These things are so sensitive, anything that can vary voltage will mess with things. Clean with contact cleaner and then use dilectric (silicone) grease in the connector. Cheap and worth a shot.

You didn't replace any brake light bulbs with aftermarket bulbs by chance?

Yeah, they cause problems.... I only mention it to give you an idea of how sensitive these vehicles are.
