Thanks for the info. Because of my schedule, so far , all I've been able to do is how up real early or on Sunday to check these out (dealers closed). That'll change soon.

Also, along those same lines, can you tell from the pictures whether the stereo is the upgraded Harmon Kardon unit?

Thanks

I really can't answer that. I have not examined the stereo head units in either SEs or HSEs.

I thought I could tell about the radio's from looking at them but the head units look the same in the pictures. The only "visible" difference I've noticed is that the front doors have 2 speakers each on some cars ( assume with the upgraded stereo ) vs one speaker in the "base".

Also, do all the LR3's come ready for the hitch receiver ? Or does something else have to be installed before you can get the receiver ? And also, if not already there, is the wiring just a plug and play ?

Thanks

You can tell by the two extra speakers in the front doors and the two speakers in the rear pillars. I haven't seen any SEs with the upgraded stereo, not sure if that was an option or possible, but all HSEs I've seen have it (might have been standard).

Yes, but you need to buy the receiver which from LR is quite expensive and has some disadvantages. There are some 3rd party options as well, but only some work with the full sized spare if you have one. AFAIK the wiring for towing is a separate package that had to be ordered or installed.

If you can plug in a lamp you can install the tow wiring. Check other options than the LR dealer.
I am selling mine for $75 plus shipping. It is the long one. Check around.

Not sure about that, but the trailer brake controllers that are Ford compatible are compatible with the LR3 as far as I understand.

Ah that could be what I am thinking of.

Mostly just figure out the things that are important to you (seats, rear climate control? Adaptive Headlamps? etc) and find the vehicle that has what you want regardless of badge.

The 19" rims will be a pain for tires but you can always sell them and get some 18s. Many of us, like myself, have both.
In my experience the used market doesn't ask any more or very little extra money for an HSE.

I paid $7,500 for my 06 a year ago with every option.

I'd buy for condition and not the model but the HSE does have some nice features.. The 19's are annoying... I ended up spending $300 of 18's and giving away my 19's(taking up space).
