LR3 Tire Recommendation
I love this thread https://expeditionportal.com/forum/t...x-what.206567/
Give it a read (or at least the first several posts). It's great and i agree on both points:
1. The Defender is an excellent tire
2. I'm too caught up in looking cool to be happy running that tire.

I tried replying to this thread earlier but my response didn't seem to post. Great information and the Falkens look good. That and the personal experiences shared here make them a tire to consider for my next AT. On my 2095, which is more the bruiser, I only run a true mud tire and a pure winter tire...but off-roading is all I use it for and I live in WA so mud is a thing.
Thanks for all the feedback. For those that run the Falken, how would you compare the road noise to a touring/highway tire like the Michilen Defender?
I don't mind a little extra noise but like some others I (and more importantly my wife) are sensitive to noise.
I live in Hawaii and shipping on the Falken would be expensive compared to the Defender which is wildly available as well as Honcook Dynapro AT2.

I have no personal experience running other A/T tires, these Falkens are my first.
They are no noisier than the 255/55R19 Hankook P tires that came on my LR3.
However, I DO have plenty of experience with other 4x4s passing me on the highway with outrageously loud tires.
So, I would say in comparison, the Falkens are virtually silent LOL.

Hi..Our Jan.2006 LR3SE had 255/60R18 originally.
The last present set are Hankook AT Dyna but are
265/60R18 which tire guy recommend but making noise now at an unbearable level with 37,000 miles on them. Are the tire pressures supposed to be The same as the previous smaller tire's?

Are you sure it's not wheel bearings? And PSI is a bit of an odd subject. I tend to run over Rover recommendations at about 50psi. My max rating the tires is 80psi. The truth is the recommended pressure is dictated more by the tire not the vehicle, but the recommenced tire pressures on the vehicles are based on the OEM tires and pressures that are optimal for handling, economy, etc. So when not running OEM tires you enter a bit of a grey area.

Our car is supposed to have 33 front 42 rear. But these Hankook All Terrain are different from the Oem tires. Was wondering if I should have filled these to a different number.
I read once that the early 2006 LR3 had an odd issue with wearing out tires unevenly. The new Goodyear Wrangler tires that came on this Certified car started making noise in 16-20k miles..the Firestone that we replaced them with were perfect no noise till the end but they discontinued them so we put Hankook those were perfect but in the very end they proved a bit to be not quite as good as the Firestone. Then it's these bigger aggressive Hankook 265/60R18 AT Dyna which look great but always a little noisy but at 37K unbearable noise.
I need new tires now.
Maybe the Bridgestone Aleza (?) Oem size .
We sure liked the look of the Hankook 265/60R18 AT tires but always too noisy I think less gas mileage too and 37K too short a life span
