Cargo rack and ladder are on the list too but the wife really questions why I need those items. Haven't really come up with a good response yet.

BTW, how did you get your wheels black (Plasti Dip, etc.)?
The hankooks ride amazing, I have about 30,000 miles on them and hardly any wear. I get them rotated every 5-6000 miles. I also plastidipped the wheels 2 years ago and they still look great except one scratch when I went off road last fall. The secret to the plastidip is light coats, and multi-layers. I used 3 cans of the stuff and coated each rim about 4 times. I also used the plastidip on my grill, and side vent. They came out great IMHO! One tip, to keep the wheels clean & shining, I use armor all wipes!

Thanks for the response. I have the stock grille which is black already. Like the LR4 style you have on yours. Did you remove the wheels from the tires or did you just tape them off and then coat?

I just put a garbage bag through the spokes to cover the disc brakes and I sprayed them, wheels on. If I did them again I would tape off the wheels too.

My grill insert is actually from a rr sport, 2010 and up. I followed the Beanie grill update from disco3 website forum.

Have been running the Toyo AT2's @ 265 60 r18 with no issues. Rubbed on frame horns for a bit but I ended up grinding the corners down. If you run a lifted D3 the problem goes away by itself. I find it to be a good size but if I had to choose again I would try to go up in the weight rating of the tires. Fairly quiet on highway.

Off road they're excellent. Spent the weekend in sand and mud on the coast here and ran as low as 20psi for two days on the trail, morning til night. Sand I had issues with but this was mostly before I aired down. Otherwise great traction.

EDIT: Tom, as far as rubbing, they contact the frame horns at the farthest end of your turns. No contact while rolling straight or for most turns. It did keep me from using the excellent turning circle for a while though, that is until I cut down the horns.

I'm surprised you had contact with a 265/60. that's the first time I've heard of anybody touching with that size. I usually recommend 265/65 as the 'safe' up-size tire and then occasionally see some touching at the frame horns at full lock, at least on the later trucks (the '05 & early '06 don't seem to have this issue). I run 275/65s and definitely had to do some cutting, and I'm about to mount 275/70s so I expect I'll have to do some more work.

It may just come down to the brand/model of tire since they are often so different on the actual size vs the theoretical size.

I run 275/65s and did not have to cut anything. Don, does your '07 have the frame horns? Your comment about the '05 & '06 models is correct; for some reason they don't have frame horns or the horns don't come as far FWD as the later models.

I'd chalk it up to the way the frame horns are bolted on. There may be variance between model years or even individual vehicles in the production cycle. I can't imagine they were mounted with very much precision given the amount of cutting I actually had to do. One side rubbed more than the other. Like I said, it was minor, but did affect the turning radius.

Yes, my '07 has (had) the frame horns and unlike the earlier trucks they're welded, not bolted. I cut them back to make room for the 275/65 Duratracs. Tomorrow I pick up the 275/70 Cooper STT Pros which per the specs are 33.3". We'll see how much additional work is needed for clearance but my spit-ball measurements say it shouldn't be too bad.
