This is an older thread so hopefully the OP has sorted it by now, but the problem sounds exactly like a bad calibration throwing a 'cross axle' error. I was getting the same problem where I could drive at low speeds fine but at highway speeds would get the 'red rover of death' and drop to the bumpstops. If you have a GAP iiD tool or similar and can pull the codes it will help narrow down the problem.

In my case a bad calibration was causing the error. Once I re-did my calibrations it was good to go.

At least for me no, it would not cause a no-start.
