I know I am making a lot of threads but trying to make these search able for future use by others

Nav worked fine, I fixed the wires for the key less entry now nav screen comes on when you put the key in, start the car and it turns off

Ideas? Something in that clump of wires?

 

How did you connect the nav screen? This is just the factory display from your HSE into the 05 right? Did you just use a regular harness connector?

You didn't exactly outline what the problem was in your post though..

That behavior isn't correct though, as it's supposed to turn on with the "Land Rover" logo when you unlock the vehicle or wake it up.. (open door after it's been asleep, etc)

The 05 came with nav I did not add it

Open door land rover displays, insert key turn to accessory sometimes it boots to setting screen, soon as crank engine it turns off and does not turn back on

This had worked perfect t till I fixed the wire splice for key less entry

 

I tried looking up the wiring but my copy of the manual must be incomplete , only shows engine and upper tailgate wiring

 

If you've got the same copy I have look in the following folder:

\LR3 workshop manual\Wiring Diagrams etc\LR3\LR3 Training\data\wiringdiagrams\LRL183853501(LR3-Wiring).pdf

and then "entertainment system" seems to have the most info about the touch screen, but other sections have some connections to it too.

 

Check and see if you did not blow one of the infotainment system fuses. 15 amp fuse 53 behind the lower passenger glove box comes to mind.

The system is powered sort of all the time and thru multiple circuits on separate fuses. The computers thru relays and the like decides when the system makes noise or displays stuff based on door position, locking, and engine conditions and perhaps your wishes, but that is at the bottom of the priority list.

Well today I pulled the sill checked the main harness again, tried swapping the radio since I wanted to pull the satilite radio wires someone added

No change

But then I drove home from dads and everything working, definitely a short somewhere

 

follow up, changed nav screen a few months back no more radio issues, they are hooked together guess nav was shorting out, I tried that cause the nav started to not come on

If there is any downside to having a number of components, any fault in one tends to mean nothing works. I suppose the same can be said for the all in one, any internal fault and it does not work but at least replacing the single component that appears not to function often fixes the problem.

Having a tuner connector to a display connected to an amp connected to speakers via a MOST optical network is kind of like the old type Christmas light strings - one bulb burns out and the whole string is down.

At the same time, I suppose we must concede that USB connected printers are now preferable to parallel port connected printers - at least the wiring is cheaper so the MOST network represents the future - and in a Land Rover, the future is now and it is bleeding edge.

 

My guess is the nav screen was shorting and telling the amp to turn off radio sound for nav to talk, but nav was not in use
