Default Nav screen to storage bin conversion help

Looking for some insight from anyone that has changed out their nav screen for the storage bin in the center of the dash. The wires in my passenger foot area for the nav need to be replaced as every now and then I get the No Nav Fitted waring on the screen. So instead of spending an hour or more doing wiring plus the cost of all the new pins and the special crimpers to properly crimp the pins I think I'm going to ditch the nav screen for the storage bin. I just wanted to see if anyone here has done this swap and if so what parts were needed besides the bin and its mounting screws.

You need to replace the entire dash, the cubby is part of it. Its basically cut off for nav installs. So if you want a cubby, you have to get creative. Its not a part you can just put in.

That is super lame but thanks for the info. I wish I had a 3D printer and I would try to create one that bolts in using the same mount points as the screen. As these trucks get older and stand alone nav systems from Garmin get better I could see more people wanting to ditch the stock screen.

I don't use my screen for navigation much, but when I do its when I am in the middle of nowhere Montana and find it very handy, including the compass. But I also upgraded to a LR4 unit, so that helps a bit.

Also the 4x4 Info screen is handy.

I have a Garmin if I’m going to be traveling longer distance with questionable cell service and someday hopefully will get their newer unit. The 4x4 info is ok but if I’m on the trail I’m watching where I’m going and not the screen.
