Hey all.

I have an '08 LR3 with navigation. The DVD drive has went out - it won't eject the disc, even when it is unlocked, and the screen says that I need to insert a MAP DVD. I know that the DVD is still in there - after about 10 minutes of not working one day, it suddenly came back on as if there was no problem. The next time I started it, it said merely, "Insert MAP DVD." When I attempted to unload the DVD, the unit made no sound as if it wasn't even trying to eject. When I unplugged the unit, the screen said that it was completely missing, so I know that the computer "sees" the DVD player, but I believe that the motor has fried.

So, I'm finding that there are two different models of DVD players for the LR3. One was produced/used between 05 and 06, and the second was from 07 and on.

Does anyone know if I can use the 05/06 DVD player instead of the 07 and on? Were there changes to make them non-compatible?

The online parts catalog lists the 05/06 DVD player as no longer available, but the 07 and up one *is* available, and the part numbers for everything else hasn't changed...so my assumption is that they may have made minor adjustments to the part and changed the number, but they are interchangeable...

any thoughts?

Call Marty at Overland Rovers. He can send you one for about $125. I've gotten two off him. He will make sure you get the right one, but my understanding is that they can all work (even some of the RRS's)

At least your problem appears to only be with the drive (much luckier than me)

If he doesn't work out, let me know as I have 3 total units. I can send you one to test and if it works for you, you can just cover the shipping / cost afterwards
