Need new key
#11
Really? I lost my key for several days and got a few quotes to program another from the dealership and several local locksmiths before finding it again. Perhaps in my area the technology is more common, although I never ended up needing anyone to come out and do it so there's a chance they wouldn't have been able to.

Nope! I asked them that as well, they can cut the key but they didn't have the capabilities to program the key. Thx

What do you think of this one? It says key fob programming?

After reading many posts I got really scared of losing my only FOB/key so I ordered "Keyecu Replacement Flip Remote Car Key Fob 315MHz PCF7941" from Amazon.com but now that I've got it no one is able to cut it for me here in Red Deer. I tried the Ford dealer but the tech says it can't be done, so our local Part Source has just started offering C3 Car Chipkey sidewinder services, going to give it a shot. As others have said before, what could possibly go wrong? I do have a GAP tool but have not activated it yet, will probably be learning a lot of new things in a hurry...

Well, the new key mechanically unlocked the door but did not start the LR3, so am heading to Calgary tomorrow and will stop at another suggested locksmith, very disappointing that we are (key cutting wise) technologically so far behind the rest of the world...
EDIT: Still have the new uncut key from Amazon, so hopeful about the mechanical cutting tomorrow...

Unfortunately I could not get this key cut properly, so decided to go over to the previous owner's business (Carlos you know who you are ... ) and pick up the 2nd unusable key. He was so surprised to see the machine running that he almost had a fit! So happy to see his much loved (and well used) LR3 back on the road, so I have decided to get more Panasonic VL2330 batteries (from UK, they are cheaper than in Canada or USA?) and perform surgery on the remaining remotes plus reprogram the whole mess with my newly operational IIDTool from GAP, what an impressive piece of engineering that IIDTool BT is! I am going to try to get the mechanical part of the key cut in Edmonton within the next week, so will report back on that progress when it happens. Obviously, Land Rover LR3 ownership is NOT as easy as buying the car and driving home...
