It very likely that Pilkington's have a plant in China, after all just about everyone else these days seems to and the Made in China bit is just so you know what country it's from. While a lot of knock-offs come out of China there are a lot of well known companies who are having their products made there, Apple to name but one.

Usually OEM will be from the same company, and maybe the same production line, that supplied the screen to the vehicle's manufacturer.
I should find out friday if AAA aproved my request for OEM glass. If not then I will see if they can get me Pilkington aftermarket LR3 glass.

I'm not taking a non Pilkington replacement even if warranted. I don't want to have to deal with of the three things (heater coils, wiper sensor or rain sesors) failing early. Its a pain to bring the car back.

Good news, the repair shop got AAA to buy OEM glass from a Landrover dealership for just my $100.00 deductible.

Curious to see how much they raise my rates

That's great, but either way, Land Rover/Pilkington you would be getting the same thing.

I had mine replaced with a Chinese brand (Fuyao?) due to costs and the fact that windshields last a year or two up here and it works fine. No heating element issues or leaking and the sensor for wipers/lights works OK. There was a short period where the sensor was probably "relearning" the new windshield when it sometimes got confused, but it's fine now.

No they might have given me NON pilkington glass like the last guy got. Made in china. No Landrover sticker no Pilkington sticker. Just some chopsticks in the corner and fine print "buyer beware"

You sure you dont mean the Pinkertons from Dead Wood TV series?

No, but maybe you should get Pinkertons onto the case.

If you were told you were getting OE/OEM and got anything else you've been had and the seller is guilty of fraud.

I certainly wouldn't be a happy bunny if I got anything but glass with 'Pilkingtons Optikool' on it and even more annoyed if it only said 'Made in China' with no manufactures logo. That's a sure indication it's a cheap aftermarket one.

Well, got the new windshield in. Its an official Land Rover complete with sticker and pilkington logo.

Maybe I did not notice it but on the passenger side top of the dashboard (there is airbag in there) its separated some, almost like the top of the dash has a cutout for the airbag. The cutout area has some separation almost as if someone put enough pressure on the dash to split it.

Anyone know what I am talking bout? What to do about that?

...yeah lots of posts about dashes cracking and it seems to start around the airbag lines or the vents. What part of the country are you in? Extreme temps seem to impact it. Also, was the separation existent before you got your new windshield? Do you think the install caused it?
