Last time I posted on this forum, I reached out about my dad's 2010 lr4 that overheated. We ended up getting a rebuilt sleeved engine because it was too risky to do the head gaskets. However, the threads that I've read so far, it seems as though doing the lr3 head gaskets is not as much of a gamble. If someone has done this job, could they please comment, and also note additional wear items that should be replaced while tearing the heads off? That's what I would like to do. I'm picking one up with 144,000 miles. The owner let me drive it this morning and it runs fine for about 15 minutes.

 

What happens after 15 mins. Is there a reason to change head gaskets
