Hard reset
Maybe try connecting the battery cables together for 10-15 min, then connect the battery, start it up, and while it's happy shift from Lo to Hi.

It acts like it is trying, and the Hi light blinks but it goes right back into Lo. here are some of the faults for the transmission upon startup. Also, once I cleared the faults I received one new one in the transfer case. My display on my LR3’s instrument panel also said “slow down, transmission too hot”. |

I put the truck in neutral and put my foot on the brake. I then held the toggle switch to the hi position. It sounded like it was searching/going into the hi position, but would return again to the low position. |
I figured you were doing it right just had to check.
With the sound and the faults listed I get the feeling you are going to have to open the transfer case |

He is back in the states for a little while from doing some work in Uganda. He has a 1970 series Land Rover over there. He is very mechanically inclined, and I will wait until he gets here to open up the transfer case. Thanks again for all the help. This LR3 will ride again:cool: In the meantime I will try and do some more preparatory work. I already changed out the rear tailgate hatch door lift struts. I also have the splicing parts to fix the passenger side sun roof drain tube. |
