Default New to the LR3 family

Hi guys, I've had a Disco II for the better part of a decade, and just purchased an '05 LR3 SE w/ 70k. I looked at the truck a few weeks ago but someone placed a deposit on her and I wasn't able to drive or start it. Got a call from the dealership and the prospective buyer didn't purchase. I put a deposit on it, and will pick it up Wednesday if everything checks out. My question is: what should I look for? And how do I check it? I am aware of the differential, control arm, and injector issues. Are there tell-tale signs I should look for in addition to those? I am mechanical and have managed to keep my Disco II tip-top for 95k miles, but don't want to get in over my head with air suspension nonsense. Thanks in advance for the help!

Bump? Am I correct in assuming these LR3s are pretty reliable judging by the lack of activity in the LR3 forum? The DII side is hopping.

Yes. And they are new enough that a lot of people still bring them into a shop for service.

welcome aboard. the LR3 is a pretty nice and capable vehicle. Seems to be quite a bit more reliable than the DI or DII, especially the engines. However, Land Rover still includes enough electronic gremlins to cause you to scratch your head. Push every button open every door, cover latch, get it on a lift and check for leaks, check the transmission sleeve for leaks. The air suspension issue isn't a mystery, it can just cost you a few dollars. the rear door latch is a known issue, but only a couple hundred dollars to fix even at the dealer. The rear differentials are know for issues, however there is someone that has the parts to rebuild them rather than replace. Good luck find a good one and enjoy. Phil
